It is the biggest and the most important event of international range that has been organized by the Youth Centre “Pałac Młodzieży” since 1977.
In the course of all the editions of the festival in the Bydgoszcz Youth Centre we have hosted over 500 youth bands from few dozen countries including: Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Poland, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, the USA, Hungary, Italy, the UK.
It is the only one held in Poland, and one of very few held world wide, festival offering such musical diversity. Lots of concerts, both open-air and in concert halls, are going on during the few days of the festival in Bydgoszcz and region. Choirs, chamber orchestras, old-time music, vocal instrumental, jazz, light music and folklore bands are just the tip of the iceberg of all qualified for the festival.
The main part of the festival is a contest in which the bands compete for the main prizes which are – the GRAND PRIX - the prize of the Ministry of Education and the prize of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as well as many special prizes.
The bands also have an opportunity to take part in an off-contest festival, performing on various stages and to participate in a wide range of accompanying events, namely: national meetings, discos, sport and recreation activities or trips.
